Thoughts of a Quarantined 26 Year Old

I’m back! This is the longest I’ve ever NOT written a blog. Time has slowed down and my days have become much more simplistic so I’m very thankful for this time to be able to sit down and write. There are so many things going on right now, guys…..

+ I’m working from home now! Who would’ve ever thought? It is truly bizarre waking up and not having to actually “get ready”. I love being able to sleep in a little bit more and being able to work from home, but I also miss my students and being able to teach in a classroom.

+ A few months ago, I prayed that God would grant me more time to spend with my family and He answered those prayers – just not the way I expected (not complaining!). Quarantine life has gifted me with SO much quality spent with family – even Nathan and Jasmine. I’ve truly come to realize that I love spending time with my brother and sister. We do small things together like cooking, cleaning, playing Just Dance, and watching Korean variety shows. I’ve also been able to spend almost all my evenings with my parents watching TV and reading together. Really, God has answered my prayers in His own way.

+ Y’all, I’ve been reading SO much! I am currently finishing another book by Francine Rivers called “A Lineage of Grace.” She takes the stories of Bathsheba, Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, and Mary and retells them. I was hesitant to read it because I was afraid that she would change the Biblical story, however I found it to be a very accurate account and she provides the story from Scripture at the end of each retelling for us to compare. In fact, reading her book has given me an even greater understanding of the historical context going on.

+ Speaking of Scripture, I’ve been reading the story of Ruth and Boaz (in the Bible and in Rivers’ book) and while the story is famous for the mother-daughter relationship, I am convinced it is one of the most romantic stories ever! I can’t help but be amazed at the kind of man Boaz was. He chose to be the family redeemer and redeem Naomi and Ruth, graciously and generously giving them an heir and a portion of his land. Truly a kind and God fearing man.

+ I was able to go fishing last Sunday and it was so needed. The stillness of the water truly brought peace and calm to my mind and it was even better because E was with me. Not one fish was caught, but I treasured the time we spent on the lake – talking, fishing in silence, walking hand in hand, and sitting on the rocks together. It was a blessed time.

+ And yes, E and I haven’t been together ever since the start of the quarantine (except when we went fishing). I know long distance couples must be rolling their eyes at us, but it’s truly painful, haha. I miss him a lot. E has done a wonderful job of encouraging me to have a positive and joyful attitude. He leads by example and I praise God for a man that chooses to rejoice rather than to complain.

+ Yes, the wedding. Ohhhh, the wedding. I think I’ll save that for another post, but for the time being if you’re reading this post, please pray for us.

Wow, I forgot how good it felt to blog! Looking back, God is still so good and faithful throughout this season of quarantine. I am thankful.
