A year ago, I promised devotion and commitment to the love of my life in front of family and friends. It was and still is the best day of my life. Praise God for one year of marriage to my beloved.
With no exaggeration, it's simply been the best living life with E as my husband. Being married is so fun! If I were to describe it to someone, I would describe it as a never ending sleepover with your best friend. So. Much. Fun.
For memories sake, here are a few memorable moments from our first year of marriage:
Lessons Learned
- I am far more selfish than I could've ever imagined.
- How to cook more flavorful food for my husband
- Memorize Bible verses in moments of frustration and differences
Favorites
- Going to Hawaii!
- Spending our honeymoon in the best Airbnb when we went to Steamboat
- Finishing Stranger Things together
- Waking up and having slow mornings
- Talks before calling it a night
- Spending Christmas with each other's family
Funny Moments
- Trying to kill a 6 houseflies in our apartment with a book and t-shirt (we still don't own a fly swatter, haha)
- Swamp butt. That is all I will say.
- Chasing each other around the coffee tables to get in the last tickle.
- Hearing E gag every single time he drank apple cider vinegar. HILARIOUS. Lol
- Too many moments!!
Our marriage is as imperfect as any other marriage, but we praise God for his faithfulness in our lives. While I still feel like the same woman that I was a year ago, God has shown me through my husband how to live much more graciously and lovingly and how to live less for myself. Praise God for a husband who listens to me, loves me, cherishes me, and guides me to the truth. And while one year may seem like more of a minor celebration, it is a huge celebration because we have both grown to love and become more like Christ through our union and it is our deepest prayer that we continue to do so in the years to come.
